Los Angeles launches 2024 Olympic bid

Los Angeles, USA, September 2, 2015 - Los Angeles launched its bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday, ten days after the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Long Beach Grand Slam crowned Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt in the men's competition and Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca in the women's.

The campaign was launched at the beach to the sound of the Beach Boys, both symbols of the Southern Californian city and of the Californian lifestyle.

“I want to thank Los Angeles for standing up once again as America’s bid city,” said LA mayor Eric Garcetti. “This is a great day for Los Angeles and a great day for the Olympic movement.”

Los Angeles is expected to face competition from Paris, Rome, Budapest and Hamburg in their bid to host the Summer Games in 2024.
