Japanese beach volleyball athletes fine-tune skills in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, January 23, 2015 - Members of the Japanese beach volleyball team have travelled to Brazil for a two-week training camp supervised by Franco Neto, a double FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour winner with Roberto Lopes.

The camp will see players immersed in an environment which has contributed to the rise of many of the sport’s top athletes and will host the Olympic Games in 2016. The Japanese athletes attending, who are participating in a programme set up by the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA), aim to fine-tune their skills and learn as much as possible from their hosts before participating in FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour events scheduled to kick off in April.

The members of the group training in Brazil were selected by the JVA in 2014. Shinako Tanaka and Sayaka Mizoe, however, are not in Rio as the camp schedule conflicts with their commitments.

Japan will host an FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Grand Slam event in Yokohoma from July 21-26.
