Another perfect day in beach volleyball paradise

Vienna, Austria, August 3, 2018 – Beach volleyball fans got their money’s worth on Day 3 of the A1 Major Vienna as the beach volleyball pros once again put on a huge show on and off the courts.

Vienna has got the beach volleyball fever. Once again, beach volleyball fans flocked to the Danube Island in the heart of Vienna. And despite the heat, the fans enjoyed beach volleyball at its finest as the pros of international beach volleyball hit the courts.

Day 3 was a very special one for 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist Barbara Seixas, too. The Brazilian star crowned her 31st birthday with two wins and by making her fourth semifinal at a Beach Major Series event. Unsurprisingly, she was in the mood for a little celebration with the Brazilian fans after her last game.

The Austrian beach volleyball fans, on the other hand, had a lot to celebrate. Veterans Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst, but also youngsters Moritz Pristauz and Martin Ermacora secured a berth in Round 2 of the Vienna Major. And it’s not surprising that the Austrians love to play on the Centre Court on the Danube Island with 8,000 spectators again building up the excitement in the stands.

And as the Austrian beach volleyball fans did not want to leave the Danube Island without a souvenir, Doppler and Horst gave some of their time by signing autographs after the win - not the worst 'duty' after a win.

Norway’s rising stars Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, on the other hand, keep on riding the wave of success at the Vienna Major. The reigning European beach volleyball champions won their second pool game to increase their impressive winning streak to 15 consecutive victories. The Norwegian youngsters are now poised to win their second Beach Major Series event after their success at the Gstaad Major less than a month ago.
