Colorado Springs, USA, December 9, 2015 - USA Volleyball has named Nick Lucena the 2015 Men’s Beach Player of the Year after the Florida native landed on the podium eight times in international competition.
Lucena began the season with Theo Brunner, the pair finished fourth at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 and despite their split in July, their points still rank 23rd in provisional Olympic rankings.
Lucena, now partnered with 2008 Olympic gold medallist Phil Dalhausser, is once again positioned to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He and Dalhausser won three FIVB events and finished second in four. They rank 18th in the world in seven events during 2015.
