As the third Latvian team in the 2017 FIVB World Championships, Finsters and Tocs qualified for the event via the European continental qualifying rounds. The Vienna appearance will mark Finsters and Tocs first-ever participation in the world championships. The 2015 FIVB World Tour campaign marked Finsters and Tocs’ first full-season of international play. Finsters’ first FIVB event was at the under-21 world championships where he and Aleksandrs Solovejs placed fourth. Tocs played in one FIVB World Tour event during the 2012 and 2015 season before initiating full-time status in 2016.
