Social Media Review: DELA Beach Open teams in tight race for title

 
The Hague, The Netherlands, June 17, 2017 - The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour DELA Beach Open continued on Friday at The Hague’s Sportcampus Zuiderpark, narrowing the women’s field to the last eight teams. Canada’s Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson moved to the final eight with 2-0 against the United States’ Brittany Hochevar / Emily Day.




Brazil’s Larissa França and Talita Antunes defeated Germany’s Victoria Bieneck / Isabel Schneider (21-16, 19-21, 15-13).





Swiss pair Joana Heidrich / Anouk Vergé-Depré, who saw off Olympic medallists Laura Ludwig /Kira Walkenhorst of Germany (21-16, 21-16),




will play against USA’s Brooke Sweat and Summer Noel Ross on Saturday.



Dutch duo Madelein Meppelink and Sanne Keizer lost the tie-break to Brazilians Maria Antonelli / Carol Salgado,



but won the hearts of the home crowd.



The Netherlands’ Manon Nummerdor-Flier and and Marleen Ramond-Van Iersel bid farewell to the competition in Round 1,



and helped send a warm farewell to honour volleyball and beach volleyball legend Reinder Nummerdor.





Canada’s Samuel Pedlow and Sam Schacter are keen on moving on to the next round and on sharing their love for headgear.






Switzerland’s Nico Beeler / Marco Krattiger made it to Round 2 with a 21-12, 21-11 win against the Americans Trevor Crabb / Sean Rosenthal.






Dutch Beach Boys Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen will face Czech Republic’s Ondrej Perusic / David Schweiner on Saturday.
