Duda relies on team experience for World Championship debut

 
Vienna, Austria, July 29, 2017 – The 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Vienna presented by A1 have a lot of players making their debuts in the event and one of them is Brazilian Eduarda “Duda” Lisboa. The 18-year-old player pairs with defending champion Agatha Bednarczuk in one of the up and coming teams of international beach volleyball.

“I’m really excited and can’t wait for our debut”, Duda said. “I always dreamed about competing in the World Championships. It’s my first time but Agatha and Leticia, our coach, have plenty of experience on it and are doing a great job on telling me everything about it and keeping me calm and confident”.

The beginning of a new era to the Brazilian player also meant the end of other as Duda competed in her last U21 World Championship two weeks ago, when she won gold with Ana Patricia Ramos to finish her “youth” career with three U19 and two U21 golds in the World Championship besides of the Youth Olympics title.

“That was my last age group World Championship and I wanted to leave in a good way”, she admitted. “I’ve been competing among older players for a while and it was great to feel the relaxed atmosphere of the young players again. It helped me to get here more relaxed and happy”.

Agatha and Duda will play their first match in Vienna this Saturday as they face Kenya’s Gaudencia Makokha and Naomie Too at 10:00 (local time). The Brazilians, who are part of the Pool C, will also face Canada’s Julie Gordon/Camille Saxton and the Netherlands’ Madelein Meppelink/Sophie van Gestel in the pool stage.
