Larissa and Talita left speechless after centre court support

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 12, 2016 – Brazil’s Liliana Franca and Talita Antunes progressed to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games quarterfinals after they defeated Germany’s Karla Borger and Britta Buthe 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) at the Copacabana Beach Arena on Friday.

Here’s what they said after the match…

Talita Antunes, Brazil
“It was a hard match. I think all the matches are hard. We're in the Olympic Games, all the teams are good. There was a little bit of wind and it was not easy for them or easy for us.

“We are playing together all the time, we are happy and this is amazing.

“I have no words to say what I am feeling, it's a magical feeling. I am so happy that I can play in the Olympic Games in Brazil. I am proud with my people, my Brazilian people.”

Karla Borger, Germany
“I don’t want to think that it is over and that is what makes me sad. It was so much fun to compete, it was so different from other events. You hear from people who have played at Olympics and they give you advice and hints of what to do, but no-one can tell you what you feel when you play in front of a crowd like this.

“They are a good team, but we were there and I could feel that we were almost there and I’m disappointed and that is what I’m most upset about.

“It is a dream (to play here). I love it when everyone is booing and everyone is against you. It is amazing and a good advertisement for the sport. They can see a sport that connects people. On the court I don’t care if they scream for them or me.”
