Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 11, 2016 - Three-time Olympian Phil Dalhausser and his new “Summer” Games partner Nick Lucena of the United States captured men’s Pool C here Thursday evening with a three-set win over Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai of Italy at the Rio 2016 quadrennial on iconic Copacabana.
With their 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 24-22) win in 60 minutes over Lupo and Nicolai, Dalhausser and Lucena maintained their third-seeding for the 16-team elimination bracket where play with be held Friday and Saturday. The win was the American’s third in four matches this season between the two teams.
By winning one of three matches in the group, the Italians will play a “lucky loser” match at 11 a.m. Thursday with the winner advancing to the elimination round.
