Brouwer and Meeuwsen still striving for best

Rio de Janeiro, August 10, 2016 – The Netherlands' Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen made it three wins from three at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games eliminations rounds with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) victory over Poland’s Bartosz Losiak and Piotr Kantor at Copacabana Beach Arena on Wednesday.

Robert Meeuwsen, the Netherlands
“I think we haven’t shown our best level yet, but still we did pretty well and I’m pretty happy we managed to win all three games.”

Alexander Brouwer, the Netherlands
“Here with the circumstances in the centre court, almost like turbulence in the centre court, we had to played a different game and gained a lot of experience for the rest of the tournament.

“I think the most important thing is we don’t care what weather it is, whether it is raining or cold. We’re from Holland, so we’re used to all kinds of weather. We just like to play beach volleyball and we showed it off with a lot of positivity and played very well.

“We wanted to win this pool and we did.”

Bartosz Losiak, Poland
“It was ok, we came close to winning this game, but we lost twice to tough teams. Now we may be second or third, we should still be playing.”
