Broder & Valjas improve Canadian Copacabana effort

 
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 11, 2016 - With two Canadian women’s team competing in the Beach Volleyball competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas posted the North American country’s fourth win by eliminating Egypt’s Elghobashy and Nada Meawad in two sets here Thursday.

With their 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) win in 32 minutes over Elghobashy and Meawad, Broder and Valjas finished Pool D play with a 2-1 record highlighted by an opening win Sunday over Laura Giombini and Marta Menegatti of Italy.  The Canadians lone setback was Tuesday to Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst of Germany, who play the Italians later Thursday.

With Canada having two women’s team in the Olympic Beach Volleyball competition for the first-time, Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan have a 2-0 Pool E record and play Germans Karla Borger and Britta Buthe in another late Thursday match.
