Borger and Buthe ready to go again after reaching round of 16

Rio de Janeiro, August 11, 2016 – Germany’s Karla Borger and Britta Buthe booked their place in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games round of 16 with a 2-0 (21-13, 21-8) victory over Venezuela’s Olaya Pazo and Norisbeth Agudo in the lucky loser round at Copacabana Beach Arena on Thursday.

The win sets up a round of 16 clash against number one seeds Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes of Brazil.

Here’s what they said after the match…

Karla Borger, Germany
“I'm happy we are in the next round and it's really late, so we really have to hurry and go to bed, but we can sleep happy today.

“Just give me an opponent, I want to play.”

Britta Buthe, Germany
“Actually I was really excited that we had another chance to compete in the centre (court). I think that is the only way you have to think of it. If you think it's like a punishment or something you have to go an extra round - I think it's a great chance for us to stay in the tournament.

“(Tomorrow) is a new beginning, 0-0.”

Olaya Pazo, Venezuela
“That wasn't a good match, so we aren't feeling lucky, but we are happy to be here, but that definitely was not a good match.

“Their serve was aggressive and I just feel like I wasn't that concentrated in the beginning, so it took me a while to get into a rhythm. They just had a better game.”
