Bawden and Clancy eye elimination rounds after second win

Rio de Janeiro, August 8, 2016 – Australia’s Louise Bawden and Taliqua Clancy made it two wins from two at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games when they beat Venezuela’s Norisbeth Agudo Olaya Pazo 2-0 (21-9, 21-14) at the Copacabana Beach Arena on Monday.

Here’s what they said after the match…

Louise Bawden, Australia
“It was good. I think against the Venezuelans there is the chance to be pushed around by their skills and ball placement and we were keen to bring the physicality. T (Clancy) did such a good job at the net and there were a few points that were tight and could have been close, but she has such a good reach.

“Every match is our toughest match and our next match is really tough (versus Marlene van Iersel and Madelein Meppelink, the Netherlands). I’m really looking forward to it and we done ourselves a lot of favours with the way we’ve gone out and played these games and I’m just ready to go out and play again.”

Taliqua Clancy, Australia
“We did a really good and we want to keep going on our job each time we go on court and that is what we did today.”
