Bansley and Pavan striving successfully to maintain consistency

Rio de Janeiro, August 11, 2016 – Canada’s Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan Germany’s beat Germany’s Karla Borger and Britta Buthe 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) to top their pool at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, at Copacabana Beach Arena on Thursday.

Here’s what they said after the match…

Heather Bansley, Canada
“It feels great to win that match. We expected Karla and Britta to come out and play strong, they were in a do or die situation and wanted to make it out of the match, so we knew it would be a tough match.

“We knew it would be important for is to get that W and give us top spot going into the play-off rounds.

“We’ve been playing really well and consistent. We’ve been trying to focus on our side-out game and taking care of that side. Our strength is definitely in our defence and we score a lot of points that way. I feel really confident in the work we have done in the last few weeks to prepare for this tournament.”

Sarah Pavan, Canada
“It can only benefit us. Coming into the tournament we looked at our group and thought that it would be a big challenge, all the teams are very strong. It was a good starting point to have that tough challenge early to prepare us for the knockout rounds coming up.”
