Fort Lauderdale, Fla., September 29, 2015 - Due to the depth of the sand on the side court at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, the opening three matches here Tuesday on the second court for the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals have been rescheduled to Wednesday and Thursday.
“Unfortunately, the depth of the sand was not sufficient to play matches Tuesday,” said FIVB Technical Supervisor Ed Drakich. “We will be working throughout the day to improve the condition and will resume competition on the side court Wednesday. We have enough room in the scheduling format for this tournament that the rescheduled matches will not create any problems.”
With a 4,000-seat stadium court, seven matches will be played on Tuesday starting with an opening Pool A win by Germans Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst over Spain’s Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Fernandez by a 2-1 (21-9, 23-25, 15-9) in 46 minutes.
