World champs has huge social media impact

 
The Hague, the Netherlands, June 30, 2015 – The FIVB’s social media channels have reached some significant milestones since the start of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015, with the Facebook page reaching 300,000 fans.

Posts on Facebook since the start of the tournament have had a reach of almost four million, an increase of 75 per cent from previous weeks. Fans are getting engaged too, with over 250,000 interacting online.

FIVB Twitter coverage from all four venues has also kept the world up-to-date with the latest happenings on and off the court. More than 800 tweets have been sent, appearing in more than 1.5 million timelines. Videos is unsurprisingly the most popular content, with nearly 60,000 views in total in just the first two days of the competition.

Photos on Instagram are also giving fans a different perspective of the party across The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam. More than 7,000 fans have started following the account since play began on Friday and the account has nearly hit 100,000 followers.

And oh by the way, we broke a record: 2,355 set a new record for playing in beach volleyball matches on Scheveningen Beach, near The Hague.
