Fourth beach volleyball age-group tournament added to calendar

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 31, 2014 – A year on
from the introduction of the FIVB Beach Volleyball U23 World Championships, the
FIVB is delighted to continue the growth of the age-group tournaments in 2014
by organising a World Championships for the U17 age-group.

The inaugural FIVB Beach Volleyball U17 World
Championships will take place in Bahai de Banderas in Mexico from July 15 to 20
and means even more young players will get the chance to compete at
international level.

“We are delighted to be able to organise a World
Championships for the U17 age-group,” FIVB President Dr Ary. S. Graça F° said.
“We want to give as many young players the chance to experience international
competition because it is vital to their development as beach volleyball
players.

“It also means another country can have the chance
to organise an FIVB tournament and learn and understand what is required to
host an FIVB age-group World Championships and how the hosting federation can
use the tournament to spread the popularity of the sport in their country and
region.”

Myslowice in Poland will again organise the FIVB
Beach Volleyball U23 World Championships after the successful hosting of the
inaugural event in 2013. The tournament in south-east Poland will take place

Championships from July 29 to August 3.

Volleyball U21 World Championships, with the event set to take place from July
