Brazil’s Eduarda (14): If all
goes well, we will be the champions

She is still one of the
youngest players at the FIVB U19 World Championships in Porto, but 14-year old
Eduarda Santos Lisboa certainly plays above her age. She already won gold in
the School World Championships in Italy and silver at the FIVB Beach Volleyball
U23 World Championships this year.

On Friday, on the last day of
pool play at the FIVB U19 World Championships, Eduarda and her partner Taina

Russia’s Daria Myshonkova and Valeriya Shvedova.

Both teams booked two

Venezuela take first loss,
but still eye a medal

After finishing 25th in Umag
at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships just a few weeks ago
Ronald ‘Bolivar’ Fayola and Jose Gregorio ‘Tigrito’ Gomez from Venezuela have
their eye on a medal here in Porto at the U19 edition in Porto.

Their 2-0 (21-9 21-18) loss
to pool winners Mateusz Lysikowski and Tomasz Wierzbicki on Friday did not
change anything to the original plan. More

The U19 event continues on
Saturday with both men and women playing three rounds of elimination. Only four
teams per gender will remain to compete in the semifinals and medal matches on
Sunday.

The FIVB U19 World
Championships in Porto are the final of three FIVB age group events this year.
Porto hosted the U19 World Championships before in 2010.
