News Beach volleyball 21/08/2013 FIVB Moscow Grand Slam pool play set to go Moscow, Russia, August 21,2013 – The 6th edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Moscow GrandSlam is set to go. On Wednesday eight teams from each gender advanced after tworounds of qualification to complete the 32 teams main draw pool play. In the women’s competitionDutch team Marloes Wesselink and Laura Bloem advanced as lucky losers after thewithdrawal of the Czech team Marketa Slukova and Kristyna Kolocova. The main draw for bothgenders starts on Thursday, with two rounds of pool play in the women’scompetition and one in the men’s. The semifinals and medal matches for both menand women are scheduled for Sunday. From the reserve list to main draw again forTomatis and Ranghieri Andrea Tomatis and AlexRanghieri finished a spectacular 4th at the Berlin Grand Slam just a few daysago, coming all the way from the reserve list. And the Italians are planning todo that all over again in Russia this week, at the sixth edition of the MoscowGrand Slam. The first hurdle has beentaken, on Wednesday they were one of eight qualification teams advancing tomain draw. Just like in Berlin they had been moved up from the reserve list. Under 23 champion Bieneck andher partner Grossner had a bye in the first qualification round as secondseeded, but needed three sets (21-13 17-21 15-12) to overcome USA’s HeatherHughes and Lane Carico in the final round.
