The Hague, the Netherlands, June 13, 2013 – Brazil’s Talita Antunes has a special connection with The Hague. She won silver in 2009, gold in 2010 and bronze in 2011 in the Dutch city with Maria Antonelli. And she even likes the always-present wind in the coastal town.
“In some way I always play well in windy conditions, like here in The Hague and in Marseille. I tried to help Taiana with this today.” Taiana Lima is her new partner this season after her break-up with Antonelli. It has been a successful partnership so far, winning gold in Shanghai at the first Grand Slam of the season.
Number one in the pool
Thursday, at the Transavia The Hague Grand Slam Talita and Lima defeated Spain’s Liliana Fernandez and Elsa Baquerizo in three sets (21-14 14-21 15-8) to finish first in their pool. A very important win. Talita: “First of all because of the wind that is very strong today. You never know if you will play well. And second because the last tournament we lost against Spain.”
Talita is very pleased with her new partner. "Taiana had some important digs and served well. She’s a good partner and very funny. We train a lot and I think we can do better and become a great team.”
