The FIVB Prague Open is the third Open on the 2014
calendar. It is also the 264th FIVB women’s tournament since FIVB began women’s
competitions in 1992.

a World Tour event, but these were all men’s Opens.

The venue, Stvanice Island
in the middle of the Vltava river, has been a place of sport for many years. At
the end of 17th century a wooden arena was erected in which dog hunts at
animals were held. That is were the name Stvanice comes from, it means hunt.

With a population of over
1.2 million, Prague has been the political, cultural, and economic centre of
the Czech state for over 1,100 years. The city has been included on the UNESCO
list of World Heritage Sites since 1992.
